When 16-year-old Chava gets his first job, he must find ways to balance the demands of working life with the first summer spent without his sister, and which is quickly slipping through his fingers.
First Check is the recipient of the Community Builder’s Fund as well as a grant from the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events. The film is an official selection of the 33rd edition of the San Diego Latino Film Festival, New Filmmakers LA, and the 2025 Philadelphia Latino Arts and Film Festival.
